Integrate Circuit Industry Base     Integrated Circuit Industry is the dominant and support industry of Zhangjiang Park. Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Industry Park is a national electronic information industry base, core area of Shanghai micro-electronic industry base and national electronic information industry park (Shanghai National IC Industry Park).     Zhangjiang initially applied “Industry Chain” development strategy by developing around Integrate Circuit industry and achieved stride development in Integrate Circuit industry. Zhangjiang so far has established the most complete industry chain in China from design, encapsulation test to manufacturing of integrate circuit, featuring the highest production capability and strongest R&D organization, and the centralization of high-end IC design enterprises.     More than 200 renowned domestic and overseas enterprises are located at Zhangjiang. The total output of integrate circuit 11.1billion RMB accounts for half of the total amount in mainland China, and the production capacity of 8-inch wafer accounts for 70% of the total production capacity of mainland China. Two 12-inch 90nm production lines will be put into use in 2005 and 2006 respectively.     Good industry environment drives the innovation and pioneering at Zhangjiang. In the field of IC industry, a group of returned overseas Chinese scholars successfully set up their own companies, “C-Core” used in mobile developed by Spreadtrum Communication has put into commercial production, fabless radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) line developed by Comlent fills in the blank of domestic IC industry. SMIC, founded and grown at the Park, ranking the 3rd place in the world among chip manufacturers, has been listed at New York Exchange in 2004.     In the future, Zhangjiang will focus on IC design and chip manufacturing, and establish a more complete industry chain comprising IC design, manufacturing, encapsulation test and manufacturing of IC special equipment and supporting manufacturing equipment. Introduce and cultivate high-end enterprise of in the field of IC design and IP supply, and cooperate with top integrating service providers at and around the Park in the field of technology and standard-making, striving to reach the international level in the field of mobile communication, digital communication, Internet and peripheral, instrument and meters, electronics, household electric appliance and photoelectronics, and providing resources and support for manufacturing industry of China. Cultivate and develop semiconductor manufacturing industry at the Park and try to set up a national semiconductor equipment industry base. It is planned to introduce and establish advance production line and technology to providing better service to design companies at and around the Park while developing overseas market of manufacturing industry at the Park, and put 8-10 production lines into production and reach world-class level in manufacturing technique and technology. R&D and Talents     Integrate the resources of Shanghai IC R&D Center and first class microelectronic research institutes in China such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, etc to have patented products in the field of key technology, key material and key equipment, and put them into business production.
